Description
Kylmäpihlaja lighthouse and pilot station were completed in 1953. It is in the area of the Bothnian Sea National Park on the island of Kylmäpihlaja, in the outer archipelago of Rauma, about 10 km from the mainland. The lighthouse, built of concrete and brick, was designed by architects Kaarina Tamminen and Antero Pernaja. The height of the lighthouse from the foundations is 31 meters, the focal height is 36 meters above sea level. The tower has 12 floors and 104 steps.
The lighthouse is used for tourism during the summer season and there is a boat connection by water bus from Rauma. On the island, in addition to the lighthouse rooms and a small restaurant, you can find e.g. cottages, saunas and a beach cafe.
The card photo was taken by Minna in July of 2022 on a lighthouse trip.
