Lighting a candle is a common custom on Christmas Eve and All Saints’ Day. All Saints’ Day in Finland is a Christian memorial day for saints, martyrs and all those who have died. In Finland, the date falls to the first Sunday of November (or if the last day of October is Sunday, then it’s that). It’s a day of remembrance.
