When a loved one has passed away, sadness and longing are great. One way to remember a loved one is to visit the grave. You can take flowers there in the summer and light a candle in the winter.
Lighting a candle is a common custom on Christmas Eve and All Saints’ Day. All Saints’ Day in Finland is a Christian memorial day for saints, martyrs and all those who have died. In Finland, the date falls to the first Sunday of November (or if the last day of October is Sunday, then it’s that). It’s a day of remembrance.
