Description
There are various symbols for world peace, one of the oldest is a dove with olive branch. Other symbols include a V-hand sign, rifles broken to two pieces, a white poppy and some circle symbols. Of them the widest-known is the original anti-nuclear campaigning circle, portrayed in the card, which was designed by Gerald Holstom. The circle symbol features simplified flag semaphore signs for N and D (nuclear disarmament).
The color-striped peace flag was first used in Italy in 1961 for the peace march organized by Aldo Capitin. The flag had the word “peace” in Italian printed on it, but it has been adapted to different languages.
This card features two peace symbols: the peace flag and peace circle symbol. We wish for it to spread peaceful intentions worldwide.
